St. Francis was born in 1182 at Assisi in Italy.He was the son of a rich merchant. As a youth he had everything. He wanted-wealth , friends,fame ....But young Francis was not content with these. One day he heard the Lord’s call to follow him. He heard the voice of God,“Francis, build my church”. He renounced all wealth and fame and devoted his life to become an apostle of peace and the bearer of Christ’s good news. He devoted himself to a life of prayer and good works and imitated Christ’s gentleness and simplicity that he was blessed with the stigmata the five wounds of Christ in 1224. St. Francis died on 3rd october, 1226 and declared as saint in 1230, four years later. Following the spirit of st.francis, there arose in church numerous religious congregations and lay associations. St.Francis loved the nature and the whole of God’s creation.His love for all God’s creatures, his gentleness and compassion has made him the universal patron of the environment. He is also known as the second Christ.
Society of Sisters of St. Francis rooted in Indian soil in 1975 with the great legacy of the foundress Mother Alexia. "The needs of the times are the will of God." It was the need of the time in India in 1975 to cater to the educational needs of the people. So we began our ministry of education in Raisen, opening our first educational institution in the year 1976 and we spread far and wide in India. St.Francis Convent Co-Ed School, Patel Nagar was established in 2018 to foster holistic education to students. Our school is the place where minds are ignited hearts are nurtured, and futures are built.
